Fun Run Nepal 2026 Brings Over 2,000 Together for Women’s Empowerment

Higher Ground Nepal’s annual 5K Fun Run Nepal returned bigger than ever — and WildMinds was proud to be part of it, again.

On the morning of March 21st, over 2,000 people gathered at Jawalakhel Football Ground for one of Kathmandu Valley’s most beloved annual traditions — Fun Run Nepal. Organised by Higher Ground Nepal in observance of International Women’s Month, this year’s event was its most energetic yet: a 5-kilometre run and walk that brought together families, youth, senior citizens, wheelchair athletes, and visually impaired participants all moving toward the same finish line.

The cause, as always, was bigger than the race itself — gender equality, women’s empowerment, and the kind of community spirit that only grows stronger year after year.

A Morning to Remember – Fun Run Nepal 2026

Participants set off through Bhanimandal, Thadodhunga, and Sanepa before looping back to Jawalakhel — a route designed to be inclusive, accessible, and open to everyone. The day opened with a warm-up by Titan Zumba Fitness, and after the run, Blind Rocks — whose visually impaired members also participated in the race — took to the stage for a live performance. Women entrepreneur stalls, a Sustainable Bazaar, and spaces for children rounded out a morning that felt less like a sporting event and more like a community celebration. It’s the kind of event that WildMinds has been proud to support for over four years — not because it asks anything of us, but because it stands for something worth standing behind.

A particularly moving highlight was the wheelchair run, led by the Jawalakhel Wheelchair Sports Club in collaboration with Nirmala Foundation — a reminder that this event has always stood for participation over competition.

“The success of Fun Run 2026 reflects growing community awareness and a collective commitment to gender equality and inclusion.” — Higher Ground Nepal

Where the Proceeds Go

Beyond the race, the funds raised will go toward supporting the Nepal Cancer Support Group, educational scholarships for children in Dukuchap, financial literacy and entrepreneurship programmes, and grassroots women’s organisations across Lalitpur. Since its founding in 2015, the Higher Ground Fun Run has engaged more than 10,000 participants and touched countless lives through its community programmes. For those of us who’ve watched it grow year after year — WildMinds included — seeing that number climb is quietly satisfying.

WildMinds has been a part of Fun Run Nepal for over four years now, and every edition reminds us why we keep showing up. It’s a privilege to support an event that means this much to this many people. Congratulations to Higher Ground Nepal, every volunteer, and every single participant who made March 21st what it was.

Here’s to next year.
