National Innovation Centre (NIC) Nepal is a visionary initiative by Mr. Mahabir Pun, focused on developing homegrown solutions to Nepal’s challenges. Built on the belief that innovation can thrive within Nepal, NIC empowers local talent to create impactful technologies—from healthcare to energy—turning Nepal into a global innovation hub.
THE CHALLENGE
The National Innovation Centre, founded by Mr. Mahabir Pun, is not just an organization—it is a vision for a self-sustaining, innovation-driven Nepal. The original logo, while rooted in traditional values, no longer aligned with NIC’s evolving mission to position Nepal as a global hub for technological advancement and innovation.
The primary challenge was clear:
How do we craft a modern, tech-forward identity that still honors the soul of Nepal?
We needed to walk a fine line between minimalism and cultural depth—between trendsetting design and timeless symbolism.
The Insight
At the heart of NIC is a deeply patriotic philosophy. Mr. Mahabir Pun believes in building global solutions within Nepal, by Nepalese, for the world. This meant the brand identity couldn’t simply follow global trends—it had to redefine them through the lens of Nepalese essence.
The older logo lacked the modern appeal needed to represent a forward-thinking innovation hub.
The challenge was to create a minimal yet meaningful identity that embodies Nepal’s spirit and global ambition.
The Solution
The final logo is built entirely with geometric shapes, inspired by the sun and moon—the two powerful elements in Nepal’s national flag. These celestial symbols represent permanence, progress, and unity. By reinterpreting them with modern precision, we preserved Nepal’s cultural spirit while speaking the language of innovation.
For the color palette, we embraced the vibrant red and deep blue of the national flag—bright, bold, and full of energy. The new visual identity is now:
